Decarbonisation strategy

mstep was commissioned by Equans to assess the potential for decarbonisation strategies to reduce the reliance on fossil fuel energy for the Coach Lane Campus buildings including their Sports Centre and Campus blocks F, G, and H.
We first looked at the building envelope and carried out thermal modelling to assess the potential reduction in heat lost through the building fabric by introducing improved building fabric. We further explored energy savings by recommending the installation of ground-source heat pumps, improvements to the buildings system efficiencies and the building management system, the installation of PV for electricity generation and the replacement of all fluorescent lighting to LED lighting.
By implementing these measures, a reduction of carbon emissions of the site can be expected in the region of 60% compared to the current levels.
